New garage door installation in Cape Coral

Steel, carriage-house and glass doors that meet Florida wind-load rules, measured and installed with the old door taken away.

Wind rating is not optional here

On most homes the garage door is the widest gap in the walls, and in a storm it is the one that decides what happens to the rest of the building. If it fails, the pressure that gets inside pushes up on the roof from below. That is why Florida treats garage doors as structural, and why a replacement in Lee County needs a wind-rated door and a permit.

We handle the permit and the inspection. A door that is not rated and documented is a problem at resale and potentially at claim time, so this is not a corner worth cutting.

Insulation, and whether it is worth it here

In a Florida garage the honest answer depends on what is behind the door. If the garage is unconditioned and you only park in it, insulation buys you a slightly cooler space and a quieter door. If there is a room above it, a gym, a workshop or an air handler in there, it is worth the upgrade, because an uninsulated west-facing door turns that garage into an oven by four o'clock.

Insulated doors are also stiffer, which is part of why they carry better wind ratings.

What the visit involves

  1. Free in-home measure. Opening size, headroom, backroom and the condition of the frame. Photos of your house so you can see the options against it.
  2. A written quote covering the door, the track, the hardware, the permit and removal of the old one.
  3. Order and permit: made-to-order doors usually take a couple of weeks.
  4. Installation in a day for most single and double doors, including new springs sized to the new door's weight.
  5. Inspection and handover, with the product documentation you will want for your insurer.

Springs are part of a new door

A new door almost always weighs something different from the old one, so the existing springs will not balance it. Any honest quote includes a new spring set matched to the new door. If one does not, ask why.

What it costs

A standard wind-rated steel door installed runs $1,200–$3,000 depending on size and finish, or $1,600–$3,800 insulated. Carriage-house and impact-rated glass styles run $1,900–$4,200. All include the track, the hardware, new springs, the permit and taking the old door away. See the pricing page for the breakdown.

These prices are estimates

Every figure here is a researched market range for Cape Coral and Lee County. It is not an offer. Your price is fixed in writing by the technician before any work starts, and it does not change afterward.

New Garage Door Installation questions

Call (239) 933-6721 and a technician will talk it through.

Do I need a permit for a new garage door?

Yes. Garage door replacement in Lee County needs a permit and the door must meet the wind-load requirement for your address. We file it and meet the inspector.

How long until it is installed?

Made-to-order doors usually take a couple of weeks to arrive. The installation itself is a day for most single and double doors.

Can you match my neighbor's door?

Usually. Bring us a photo or an address and we will identify the style and find the closest current equivalent.

Do you take the old door away?

Yes, removal and disposal are included in the quote.

Will my existing opener work with the new door?

In most cases, provided it is sound and sized for the new door's weight. If the door is significantly heavier we will tell you before fitting it, not after.
